The memory of the gesture

At ORÍGENES, every vicuña creation is born from an encounter between nature, time and the human hand.

We work directly with master artisans from the Argentine Andes, heirs to textile techniques passed down from generation to generation. Their expertise, acquired over the years, transforms one of the world’s rarest and most precious fibres into creations of remarkable finesse.

Each piece is made entirely by hand, respecting local traditions, the rhythm of craftsmanship and the international regulations protecting the vicuña.

A RELATIONSHIP BUILT ON RESPECT

We favour long-term collaborations with a deliberately limited number of artisans.

We know their stories, their workshops and their families. Each partnership is built on shared values: respect for craftsmanship, fair remuneration, transparency and a commitment to preserving a living heritage.

This close relationship allows us to ensure full traceability for every creation.

In Europe and Asia, ORÍGENES officially represents these creations, continuing the direct relationship we maintain with our artisans.

CRAFTSMANSHIP PASSED DOWN THROUGH GENERATIONS

In the valleys and high plateaus of Catamarca, weaving is far more than a craft: it is a cultural heritage.

Skills, techniques and knowledge have been passed down within families for generations. Over time, each artisan develops their own sensibility, making every stole, shawl or throw a unique creation.

No two pieces are identical.

TIME AS A SIGNATURE

Unlike industrial production, our creations follow the rhythm of handcraftsmanship.

Depending on their complexity, a single piece may take several weeks, or even several months, to complete.

This time is inseparable from their quality and exceptional character.

At ORÍGENES Art Textile, we believe that true rarity lies as much in the craftsmanship as in the material itself.

FROM FIBRE TO FINISHED PIECE

Selection and preparation of the fibres

The vicuña wool used in our creations comes exclusively from fibres obtained through the Chaccu, a traditional shearing practice that respects the animal, is supervised by the relevant authorities and complies with international regulations.

Artisanal spinning

Each thread is worked with the utmost precision to preserve the fibre’s natural fineness and exceptional qualities.

Traditional weaving

Our artisans use ancestral techniques that reveal the full softness, lightness and elegance of vicuña wool.

Finishing entirely done by hand

Each creation is meticulously inspected, adjusted and finished by hand before being certified.
